The Anderson Island Emergency Communications Group (AIECG) is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) exempt corporation. We are comprised of volunteers with diverse interests and backgrounds, but with a common commitment: To support the Anderson Island Prepares (aiprep.us) efforts to get our island ready. Our group charter is to install, develop and maintain the island backup communications infrastructure.

AIECG provides the following services to Anderson Island Prepares and our island community:
Radio Support: Supports the Matthews Way repeater systems and the GMRS HTs used by the Neighborhood Coordinators and Zone Leads.
Training and Drills: Provides training to Neighborhood Coordinators and Zone Leads on how to use the HTs, Emcomm on air “Best Practices” and organizes quarterly drills.
Emcomm Liaison/EOC operations: Interfaces with our Island Fire Department to insure coordinated Emcomm operations between the Neighborhoods, Zones and the EOC radio operators. This group maintains the EOC backup communications “Standard Operating Procedures” and provides training for EOC radio operators.
Amateur Radio: Collaborates and liaises with the Pierce County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) and on-island Amateur Radio Operators in support of our community’s Emergency Communication planning needs.
This website has additional information on our Emcomm Infrastructure, GMRS and operational “best practices” to use in an emergency. If you would like more information or are considering volunteering, please use the “Contact” page to provide your contact information.
